Mukden Prisoner Of War Remembrance Society

Membership is open to everyone. To join, please fill out an application (available at our web site: www.MukdenPOWs.org). Annual membership requires a donation of $25 and the first 100 people to join receive a lapel pin with the MPOWRS logo. Life time membership is $150. This guarantees a pin and priority acceptance on trips.

Participate in a trip:

Our next trip is planned for September 2008 to coincide with the opening of the third phase of the Museum in Shenyang. Trip participants pay their own way but some scholarships are available for former Mukden POWs. Please contact us for more details.

Manage Information:

We could use help in many areas like:

Gathering information – as part of our preservation efforts, we are looking for anyone who was at Mukden during World War II or their descendants who might be willing to share stories or artifacts of that time.

Translating prisoner's stories and other documents so that more people can read and understand them. Knowledge of English, Chinese, or Japanese is essential with this part. Our goal is to have all documentation in at least those 3 languages.

Transcribing oral histories. Many former POWs have been interviewed on tape and we would like to transcribe those stories so they may be posted on our website and archived at the museum.

Helping with our web site. Our website is just getting started. We would like to add more information, pictures, stories, audio, and so on to make information accessible to those who can't travel to Shenyang to see it.

Donate Funds or Artifacts:

All donations of artifacts to MPOWRS are tax deductible. Artifacts will be sent to the museum in Shenyang for display. Cash donations are used for scholarships for POWs or support staff and expenses related to running MPOWRS. We are all volunteers.
